Skincare glossary
SPF
Sun Protection Factor, mainly a measure of protection against UVB, the rays that cause sunburn.
- Who it suits
- Everyone, every day, regardless of skin type or weather.
Why is SPF important?
It's the ingredient doing the most long-term work for your skin, full stop. Everything else is secondary.
Worth knowing
SPF 50 isn't twice as strong as SPF 25 (about 98% vs 97% of UVB blocked), and it isn't a timer. Apply enough, and reapply during prolonged sun exposure.
