Skincare glossary
AHAs (alpha-hydroxy acids)
A category of surface exfoliants: glycolic, lactic and mandelic acid are the most common.
- Who it suits
- Dullness, rough texture and uneven pigmentation.
Why are AHAs used?
This is the exfoliating group doing the work whenever a product promises smoother texture or brighter tone.
Worth knowing
Not all AHAs behave the same. Glycolic is more potent, lactic and mandelic are gentler starting points.
