Skincare glossary
BHAs (beta-hydroxy acids)
Salicylic acid is the BHA you'll see most. It's oil-soluble, so it works inside the pore, not just on the surface.
- Who it suits
- Oily, blemish-prone or congested skin.
Why are BHAs used?
If oil control and clearer pores are the promise on the label, this is usually why.
Worth knowing
Daily use isn't necessary to see benefits. Overdoing it can make skin look and feel worse, not better.
